Medical update

OK - I have to chuck one of these in from time to time.  This morning I went to Cancer Care for the usual blood tests and infusion of Zometa - a wonder drug that, if it runs true to form, will leave me feeling 10 years older for the next 3 days.  I feel 10 years older anyway as I can't shake my jetlag.  I put it down to having no incentive to shake it - no 8 a.m. class to teach or meeting to go to.  I had a wonderful hour and three quarters sleep last night and I don't think Susan did much better.  There was a well-timed article in this month's AARP magazine on how to sleep better so I will skip the choc cake, beer and TV near bedtime tonight and see if that helps (he said, guzzling a large glass of iced caffeine).
I have decided to let my old blog - meandmymarrow.blogspot.com - pass peacefully away as I really don't want to maintain two blogs and it is a pain in the bum switching google users.  Maybe I'll write a python program to back up my blog or print it or something.
Talking of which, my printer which has been playing up for some time now appears to be working properly.

Talking of fish

We have fish for dinner once a week, usually salmon as other fish (except for tilapia which has disgusting eating habits) require getting a mortgage.  I went to Ingles today to buy some and came across the most bizarre shop assistant ever.  I asked for a pound of salmon - she grabbed two bits from the cabinet that weighed 1.43 pounds and got pretty snotty when I said I wanted a pound.  Tempting to tell her to shove it but I patiently pointed out a piece that weighed 0.85 pounds and said that would do nicely.  She showed her "customer always right" attitude by screwing it up in a ball in its paper wrapping.  Looks like I'll be shopping at Publix or a different Ingles in future.  Don't mess me with when I have jetlag.
