An inauspicious start

Star Wars Episode n+1 - "A New Blog" "A new blog?!" I hear you cry.  "How come?"  Because sodding Google buggers around with my blogging password so much and makes it so hard to get a new one (I'm in NZ and they want to send a verification code to my US cellphone which is also sleeping quietly and impotently in NZ.)  So, rather than wait till I get home and forgetting everything I did and what all the photos are of, I am starting a new blog.  Not a clue how I will join the two together, if at all.  I hear you can export and import blogs but the Pacific Ocean is at my feet and I think I may find that more inviting. Do me a favour - if I ever tell you I can't edit this blog, please tell me that the userid is jmycroftnz@gmail.com and the password is related to the lodge in the usual way. So, how am I, what have I been doing and all that. Getting here I flew the whole way on American Airlines, taking three flights in all.  I resisted the tempta...

Georgia, Amy and Cassie as well, no doubt, as many helpful neighbours and the local council have done a remarkable job cleaning up and clearing out their house and garden there.  You still have to watch where you're parking your bum as there's always a chance that your chosen seat is already occupied by a very even-tempered greyhound but it was a perfect spot to kick back after that flight.  You also need to watch where you step in the back paddock as, courtesy of an unexpected visit from Basil, there are now more sheep up there than there used to be.  No social whirl, no wild assaults on vertical peaks, just hanging out with some bush walks, a splosh in the sea or two and the inevitable jigsaw (the one Susan had given me for Christmas - tag, you're it, George). I got there on Wednesday and demanded a hike to a waterfall on Thursday to blow away the cobwebs.  About halfway up, it became evident that I wasn't up to it and the slight sore throat I'd felt on the plane...
